A civil engineering graduate of Northwestern University, Michael Sutton is president and Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure Engineering, Inc. He has 29 years of progressive experience with the study, design, construction, maintenance and operation of highway, railroad, transit and airport facilities. Mr. Sutton's expertise has been further shaped and refined by diverse work experience in both the private and public sectors; a background that includes seven years as President and CEO of IEI and eleven years in increasingly responsible positions for local, national, and international engineering firms including ten years of service with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Mr. Sutton is an active member and past Chairman of the Transportation Group and past Director of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois, member and Director of the Planning and Design Division of the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association and a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and Black Contractors United. He also belongs to the Alliance of Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs (ABLE), an organization comprised of the most prominent African-American-owned companies in the City of Chicago.
Mr. Sutton's civic and community activities include being a member of the Urban League, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Rainbow Push Coalition. Michael Sutton makes regular contributions to the Make a Wish Foundation and American Juvenile Diabetes Association and has also established a scholarship fund for economically disadvantaged high school graduates at his alma mater.
