Lafayette Road Bike Lanes
As part of the City of Indianapolis and Mayor Ballard’s progressive SustainIndy initiative, an Indy Bikeways Plan was developed to plan for the addition of nearly 200 miles of bike lanes across the City over the next 15 years. The 12+ mile segment of Lafayette Road is an integral piece of the early stages of this plan. This project is currently the longest continuous stretch of bike lane in Indianapolis and connects the bicycling community from the northwest boundary of Marion County to Downtown.
IEI was selected by the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) to provide design, permitting and inspection services for this important project. Additionally, in order to satisfy the Department of Energy’s grant requirements, IEI’s design team is spearheading Section 106 NHPA documentation. IEI also provided construction management and inspection services for the project, which required tracking quantities and payment for multiple funding sources, both Local and DOE funds. Under IEI’s supervision, this project was constructed within 1% of the original bid price of $3.4 M.
