Nebraska Corridor Improvement

Nebraska Corridor Improvement

Nebraska Avenue is an important east-west corridor in the City of Peoria that provides vehicle and pedestrian access to the East Bluff neighborhood. The purpose of this project was to improve the Nebraska Avenue Corridor from Knoxville Avenue to Wisconsin Avenue, providing connectivity for the residents of the East Bluff neighborhood.  The City of Peoria sought to increase accessibility and safety for residents by improving sidewalks, curb ramps, and over street lighting.

Designs for right-of-way infrastructure were included and existing driveways and alleys were re-constructed with concrete aprons for longevity. Street lighting was upgraded and added to improve safety, visibility at night, and the overall aesthetics of the street.

IEI’s scope of work included a field study to determine sidewalk and curb ramp compliance with ADA/PROWAG requirements and the viability of ornamental lighting. IEI also oversaw coordination with utilities and Ameren and developed the Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates for this project.
