When I joined IEI 20 years ago, we were much smaller, but there was already a clear sense of purpose in our work. It wasn’t just about winning projects or growth; it was about doing meaningful work, doing it well, and building something that would last.
As I step into the role of CEO, that purpose remains unchanged. What has evolved is the scale of what IEI can deliver with and for our clients and partners, and the pace at which our industry and communities are changing.
Looking ahead, the next chapter of IEI will require us to think differently, expand our capabilities, and continue to grow as an organization. The strengths that brought us here provide a strong foundation, but part of our firm culture has always been a commitment to continuous improvement and learning, never standing still, and always evolving to better meet the needs of our clients, partners, and communities. That responsibility includes continuing to challenge ourselves, strengthen our capabilities, and adapt as the needs of our industry and clients evolve.
I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside this company, learning from our founder, Michael Sutton, PE, working with talented colleagues, and partnering with clients who trust us with complex challenges. Those experiences shape how I approach this role: with respect for what’s been built and a clear sense of responsibility for moving it forward.
Michael’s vision created the foundation for who we are today, and I’m grateful we’ll continue to benefit from his guidance as Chairman of the Board. I’m also confident in the strength of our team across all ten IEI offices and the thoughtfulness and accountability they bring to their work every day.
We don’t take for granted the role we play in the communities we serve. Much of our work happens out of sight, but it shapes how people live, move, and connect. It’s a responsibility we approach with care, and one we’ll continue to take seriously as we grow.
