Greektown Monroe Street Streetscape Improvement Program Pre-Development
Located in the heart of Detroit, the Greektown Historic District, “Greektown”, is a historic neighborhood and commercial and entertainment district on Monroe Street between Randolph and Chrysler Drive in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Greektown is one of the last surviving Victorian-era commercial streetscapes and attracts a variety of locals and visitors to its venues and eateries.
The pre-development project included the development of three conceptual plans for Monroe Street, which included prioritization of pedestrians who visit daily, as well as uniting the wide array of entertainment and eateries.
IEI performed an existing traffic conditions analysis, followed by the development of traffic models, which were included within the three proposed concept plans. The scope also included vehicle, pedestrian, and multi-modal traffic counts; existing conditions and future growth traffic modeling; intersection observation and signal timing; synchro traffic modeling of three concept design alternatives; and network and mobility analysis of traffic impacts to the downtown model. These services ultimately ensured that the provided conceptual plans did not impact significantly impact/impede traffic flow through the existing corridor. Read more about our Detroit office.
