Interns
Over the summer, IEI was pleased to have four young and aspiring engineering students as a part of our team: Jimi Akintonde from Whitney Young Magnet High School, Matthew Auston as part of the Evanston Township High School Junior Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, and Zakura Williams and Jaimelle Stone heralding from ACE Tech High School. These four eager students spent the 2015 summer learning and partaking in the IEI culture. Eye on IEI
In this edition of the Eye on IEI, we take a look at the growth for the 2015 year. For starters, IEI had the ribbon-cutting for both the Springfield, IL and Omaha, NE offices. Internally, IEI experience further expansion, adding Theodore St. Germaine as the New York operations manager, Christine Marecki, Corporate HR Manager in Chicago, and Greg S. Employee Announcement: Ted St. Germain
Ted brings over 35 years of experience to the IEI team in both public and private sectors. In the public field, Ted managed large capital programs and other assignments within the New York State Department of Transportation for 19 years. On the private side, Ted participated in a significant design/build as sector project manager for the JFK Light Rail. The combined project and construction management experience, and his wide scope of perspective will be a great asset to clients.
As the New York Operations Manager, Ted will be responsible for business development in IEI’s various marketing segents as well as: program management, business administration, client relations, and staff development and management.

IEI Announces Certification as a New York Minority-Owned Business Enterprise
Infrastructure Engineering, Inc. (IEI), local office located in Harlem, is pleased to announce the granting of certification status as a Minority-owned Business Enterprise (MBE) by three New York entities. The New York State Department of Economic Development, Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development; The New York City Department of Small Business Services and The Port Authority of NY & NJ all certified IEI to be listed as an eligible MBE firm. Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
IEI commemorated its new Springfield office location with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 29, 2014. More than 25 public officials, agency executives, community leaders and fellow engineering firms joined IEI at the ribbon cutting celebration. Timothy Rowles, President of the Springfield Black Chamber of Commerce, was there to welcome IEI into the community. IEI President, Michael Sutton, remarked, “We are so pleased with the turn out which assures us that there is a collective, supportive community in Springfield. It is our hope that we can build upon the relationships forged today and this ground work will evolve into mutual growth and profitable projects for the Springfield office.”
IEI Opening New Location in Springfield
IEI is announcing the opening of a new Springfield office location at 806 South 11th Street, in Springfield, IL. With this new office location, IEI’s Midwest footprint makes it one of the largest MBE-owned civil engineering firms, based in Chicago, IL with offices in Indianapolis, IN; Peoria, IL; Omaha, NE and New York, NY. President, Michael Sutton, stated, “Opening this location in Springfield aligns with the firm’s strategic growth plans.” The firm is targeting clients in both the public and private sector for infrastructure projects. IEI Day at the Track 2014
In continued recognition of IEI’s clients, the firm returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 7th year. The infamous Day at the Track event is popular event with Indianapolis agencies and clients. On Friday, May 16, 2014, IEI once again gathered personnel and clients for a day in the sun and rain! The rain tried to ruin the festivities by forcing everyone into the suite but it provided the opportunity for more conversations with those attending. Executive Vice President, Kashif Khan thanked those who attended for their continued support of the firm. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard visited the IEI suite and thanked the firm for their commitment to the City of Indianapolis.
